What are we actually longing for?
We often search for more.
More time.
More energy.
More of something that feels as if it is missing.
We fill our days, add, plan ahead.
Think that the next step will give us what we long for.
But perhaps it is not more we need.
Perhaps it is less.
Less noise.
Less pace.
Less of what pulls us away from ourselves.
When we pause for a moment it becomes clearer.
What we long for is often something simpler.
To be allowed to breathe a little deeper.
To feel calm in the body.
To be where we are, without wanting to go on.
Presence is already there.
But it cannot be heard when everything else takes up space.
A small exercise:
Pause for a moment where you are.
You do not need to go anywhere.
You do not need to change anything.
Take a slow breath in.
And a little longer breath out.
Notice the body.
How it feels right now.
Ask yourself, quietly:
What am I longing for right now?
Wait a little.
Listen without analysing … breathe.
